  • Helping to relieve tension and ease stiffness

  • Increasing flexibility and suppleness

  • Addressing the whole nervous system

  • Releasing muscle spasm

  • Relieving congested kidneys

  • Stimulating the lymphatic system

  • Switching the body into parasympathetic dominance aiding relaxation and digestion

  • Helping to resolve behavioral or stress issues

  • Relieving lumbar and sacral pain after competition, foaling, gelding or serving

  • Assisting in rehabilitation and recovery from injury, illness or surgery

  • Complementing veterinary care for chronic conditions such as soft tissue injury or arthritis

  • Maintaining a healthy, pain free body for your equine friend whether it be a child’s pony club mount, trail horse, or 5-star eventer.

Prior to your horse’s treatment

  1. Ensure your horse has been caught, un-rugged and is located on as flat a surface as possible.

  2. Your horse must be dry and clean from mud, dirt and other debris.

  3. There must be someone available to hold the horse for the duration of the appointment for the safety of both the horse and the therapist.

What to expect for your session

Bowen is a soft tissue remedial therapy where the practitioner uses fingers and thumbs on precise points on the body over muscles, ligaments and tendons.

  • During treatment there are 1 minute 'waits' when the horse is left to rest. This allows time for the connective tissue (fascia) and muscles to start relaxing , ready for the next few Bowen moves.

  • There is no manipulation or adjustment of hard tissue.

  • Initial treatments take approximately 60 mins, follow up treatments allow 45 minutes.

  • Usually, two or three treatments approximately 1-2 weeks apart may be required to correct the presenting problem.

  • You will be given after care advice to follow post treatment to have your horse recovering at its best.
